If you have ever been entranced by the powerful voice of Pavarotti on the radio, or a romantic aria sung by the legendary Edith Piaf behind a scene in a movie, but have never been to the opera we have a unique opportunity for you! Join us as PAI Dinner Theater presents an evening of beautiful singing and delicious dining.
The Peter Allen Inn will present a preview of Opera Western Reserve’s production of Donizetti’s operatic masterpiece Lucia di Lammermoor. Arias and ensembles, including the famous sextet, will be sung by a cast of six.
The cast, who you will hear includes Youngstown born soprano Randa Ruweyha as the mentally insecure Lucia. Newly arrived from Shanghai, China to do graduate work at Kent State University, XuYue Qing will be making his US debut as Normano in our main stage production and will be tonight’s Edgardo. Baritone Michael Young from Cortland sings the over-bearing brother Enrico and tenor Timothy M. R. Culver of the KentState vocal faculty is the short-lived groom. They are joined by mezzo-soprano and YSU-Dana School of Music vocal faculty member Rachel Pavloski as Lucia’s faithful companion, and bass Johnathan Stuckey of Lakewood, OH as the despairing family advisor, Raimondo Bide the Bent. Benjamin Maklevitch will preside at the electronic eighty-eight.
Opera Western Reserve will present a full production of this opera with orchestra and chorus on November 10 at the historic Stambaugh Auditorium. You will have the opportunity to be the first in the Mahoning Valley to see this talented group perform!
